Aiken County native Tracey Turner recently purchased a 185-acre historic property near the intersection of Old Aiken Road and Jefferson Davis Highway with plans to create a subdivision and community focused on minority- and women-owned businesses and contractors.

A former Midland Valley student is giving back to his hometown by turning an old plantation into affordable housing.

Tracey Turner owns a development company in Washington, D.C. His newest project is right where he grew up, a 174-acre property on Old Aiken Road.

New housing developments inside the city limits of North Augusta, wedged in between East Buena Vista Avenue and East Martintown Road, are in the works. The complex, which will take up 46.5 acres, will house a grocery store, senior living, standalone homes, townhomes and parks.

The Ward 5 Youth Business-Minded Mentorship Program is an innovative community-based pilot brought together by Zachary Parker, Ward 5 candidate for DC Council. Five teens between the ages of 14-17 will enter a 10-week intensive mentorship program, starting April 4, 2022, where they’ll learn how to design their own clothing, start their own business and take their apparel to market to sell.
